If you have been an Xbox owner for any length of time then I am sure that by now you will be aware of the “XBox Red Ring Of Death” error. This is the light ring that is surrounding the main XBox console power light. This ring of light is made up of four sections and each section of the ring indicates, when lit red, an error is taking place.
Although the 3 red lights are the most feared and most common, each red light is has meaning. Lets examine each light section and its meaning:
1 Red Ring Light:
This light illuminating indicates that your XBox is starting to suffer from a general hardware failure.
2 Red Ring Lights:
Having two red light rings illuminate is informing you that your XBox is starting to overheat. Should you see these two sections then my advice is to take immediate action and turn it off to cool down and avoid further damage.
3 Red Ring Lights:
The feared “XBox Ring Of Death“. Having these three red light rings show up on your console indicate that your CPU has come loose, this is caused from your console being severely overheated.
4 Red Ring Lights:
This is not a major problem and is relatively easy to fix. The four red light rings indicates that your XBox AV cable has come loose.
The three red light sections of the “XBox Ring Of Death” lighting up is considered to be the most problematical of all the errors. The Microsoft Corporation have to date expended millions of dollars to repair their customers’ consoles after they fell victim to the Red Ring Of Death. Microsoft absorbs the costs of these repairs for machines that are still under warranty. Unfortunately there are many thousands of customers who develop this problem after their consoles warranty expiration.
The only option for these unfortunate people is to send their XBox to Microsoft and incur costs of $200 or more, and then possibly wait for more than two months for its return.
But now there is another option available other than incurring heavy costs and being without your XBox console for months.
A number of XBox and electronic fanatics developed simple techniques for repairing their own consoles from the XBox Ring Of Death. These techniques that they developed proved to be exceedingly successful, and they have now produced guides that will enable every XBox owner to easily repair their own for a fraction of the cost.
These guides show step-by-step procedures for a red light fix. A few of the guides are accompanied by clear video demonstrations to follow, very useful for novices.
My recommendation if you are looking for an XBox repair guide, as there are a number of inferior guides around, is that you visit a site that has reviewed and tested the top repair guides.

It sucks when you’re playing Halo or something on your Xbox 360 and you get the Red Ring of Death
Here are some tips on how to steer clear of any problems with your Xbox 360.
The main issue with the Xbox 360 is overheating. Some people leave their Xbox system inside a cabinet and the Xbox core doesn’t get any air.
Put the unit on a hard surface like hardwood floors so that it can breathe. The power supply unit also gets hot so keep that off of the ground.
These two things will keep your Xbox 360 Elite running smooth. The next thing you should do is make sure you take breaks from playing your Xbox I know it’s hard to stop playing for a few hours, but that’s what you need to do if your Xbox happens to overheat.
You want your xbox running so check out the Xbox360RedLightFix Review.
Sometimes you will have other problems from overheating like your Xbox will give you the 1 ring of death.
Let me continue and tell you what other issues you might see. The Red Ring of Death was coined because around the power button it would light up red instead of green and make a ring. The best is when you have green lights around your power button because that means your Xbox is working perfectly fine. You may have seen your Xbox freeze in the middle of gameplay.
The reason for this is that the Xbox is not getting enough air and is getting too hot. If your Xbox has seen the E74 then I share your pain. The E74 code on your Xbox is also called the 1 ring of death. This means that your Xbox has a general hardware error.

What would happen if Sony took Microsoft to court for copyright infringement or tarnishment? Josh implies that the courts might not rule in the same manner as they did in the Sony v Connectix case, but I disagree.

So what is an XBox modchip? A modification chip or modchip is a device that when used enables you to play import games, backup, and, or homebrew games. Modchips first came around when hard core gamers, who were tired of the lack of game selections that were available for them in the USA. They wanted to get the better and more unique Japanese games that were coming out for their game consoles.
Modchips have become available for all major video game consoles, including the Xbox and Xbox 360. Most modern gaming consoles have a hardware-based system that ensures that only officially games may be used with that particular system and implement a regional lockout, very similar to the system that is used with DVD movies.
Modchips require a certain level of technical ability to install. Commonly, modchips have to be soldered on to the console motherboard, there are no-solder install kits which rely on the a precise positioning of contacts within the case which work with some revisions of the Xbox hardware.
As consoles got better, a whole following of homebrew developers began making their own software for their consoles. Software such as the Xbox Media Center as well as their own games and programs to stream video and audio. In order to play and run this software, you are required to have the ability to load unsigned/homebrew codes onto their system. This is where the modchip comes in. They will allow you to play the latest game offerings from Japan, and as said before, they are often much better, graphically and in originality than the games that are available for the North American market.
When the modchip first came out, they suffered a lot of compatibility issues. The first modchips were for a very specific version of the XBox 360 so you really had to know which drive you had in your XBox to know the version.
As with any product purchase, customers would require peace of mind to know that what they buy will just work, no matter what XBox version they had. So further developments saw a modchip that did away with version checking, it was compatible and it would work no matter what XBox version you had. The only thing was the installation would vary for each model.
The Globe Modchip. The Globe 360 modchip is the first XBox modchip to be compatible with all DVD drives. No longer do you have to check which model drive you have, it’ll work in any model drive and allow you access to some outstanding homebrew software and also be able to back up your own original games.

In my research for XBox Ring Of Death fixes I came across a number of dubious methods for dealing with the Red Ring of Death. One of these methods is touted all over the internet and I consider it to be down right dangerous. It’s called the “Towel Trick.”
This theory to fix it yourself is to wrap your XBox console in towels for 20 minutes and upto an hour. You are required to cover the air vents and make your console overheat, which is designed to re-solder the loose connection back together.
After you have left it to sizzle for the required time, turn off the console, remove the towels and let your XBox 360 cool, turn it back on and hey-presto, a suposed revitalized 360.
For anyone that is tempted to try this method, you should note that even for the very few consoles that may start functioning again, that this fix would only be short lived (maybe for a few short hours), will likely damage your XBox beyond any repair (ever), and invalidate any warranty.
But besides that, the thing that makes me most fearful is the fact that your 360 will be hotter than bakers oven and pose a tremendous fire risk.
So before you think about trying this unsafe technique research for genuine safe XBox Repair Guides
