Xbox

Thursday Feb 25, 2010

Xbox 360 remains the game console to beat. All games are in high-definition and easy to use with excellent online gaming and communications via Xbox Live. The great graphics with xbox raise the bar for what consoles can do visually. Xbox is very addictive with great soundtrack and killer sound effects.

On the front of the machine 2 memory card slots are present. 360Xbox has a pair of USB ports hidden behind a hinged flap through which you can connect to and communicate with MP3 players and PDAs and digital cameras and laptops.

The 4kg Xbox 360 is 309mm wide and 83mm high and 258mm deep and is actually slightly smaller than the original Xbox When laid horizontally. Xbox 360 can also be propped up in a vertical position and can be customised with interchangeable faceplates.

Xbox 360 inludes a wireless controller. The Xbox 360 has built-in wireless capabilities, but only for controllers, not Wi-Fi. Unlike with third party wireless controllers for earlier consoles each xbox360 console can support up to 4 wireless controllers. The green LED on both the 360 itself and the controller indicates exactly which controllers 1 to 4 are connected.

Inside the 360xbox is where you find three IBM custom designed symmetrical PowerPC based processor cores running at 3.2GHz. 360 xbox is designed by ATI he graphics processor unit is a custom designed unit running at 500MHz. Microsoft claims that the Xbox 360 can process more than four times the number of polygons as the original Xbox console. There are 48 parallel shader pipelines inside the ATI GPU. Xbox console uses a shared memory architecture built around 512MB of GDDR3 RAM.

Xbox 360 gives you access to all the games you want to play and the people you want to play with and the experiences you will love — when, where and any time you want them. Why buy an Xbox 360? It’s obvious man To change the tides of the war. To make history. To rip the throne out from the fat cats over at Sony and bring choice, flexibility, customization and great online gaming to the masses … so be cool:)

Xbox 360 Problems? Here Is A Solution

Friday Feb 19, 2010

No X box 360 problems? Then count yourself as one of the lucky ones. With a failure valuation of more then 50%, most consumers have experienced at lowest one problem with their console.

These problems can be anything from the “Red Ring of Death”, to just simple game freezing. Some consumers experience disks being scraped while others see “bricking”. Whether the problems are satisfactory or not, they are still a headache.

Imagine you have been playacting for Four hours straight. You have been working on completing an extremely hard area in the game, and then dead the game freezes! Rebooting doesn’t fix the problem. You take the disk out and see scratches on your new disk. Your consolation has either missing pads near the reader, or your drive doesn’t unassailable the disk in place. This is unfortunately very common, more common when the console is positioned on the side.

You have likely heard of the term “Useless as a Brick”. This is from the fact that most electronics are in a brick like shape. Xbox 360’s are known for “bricking” when some dashboard updates are applied. The update causes a hardware failure, rendering the console “bricked”. When this happens, the only alternative is contacting Microsoft. You can either get a replacement or repair, but if the console is out of warranty, it could price you $99 or more.

Probably the worst, and decidedly the most common issue with Xbox 360’s is the “Red Ring of Death”. When you boot up your Xbox 360 and only 3 red lights round the power light come on, looking like what appears to be a red ring, you are experiencing the “Red Ring of Death“. This is from either a meat digital or general hardware failure. This problem requires you to send in for a renewal or repair to Microsoft. Luckily since this issue is so common, Microsoft extensive the warrantee from 1 to 3-years from the time you purchased your console. It takes about 8 weeks to get a system back.

On Nov 1, 2006 a plot of ground was released. This patch, when applied, caused “bricking” in many systems. This led to a lawsuit being filed later on that same month. This wasn’t the first of lawsuits that had been filed against Microsoft concerning the Xbox 360’s problems. Soon after the Xbox 360 first hit the markets the year before, a lawsuit had been filed.

One of the with-it class action suits was filed Oct of 2008. Calif. consumers who claimed Microsoft knew they were manufacturing and selling faulty consoles filed it. Though Microsoft will not loss their actual failure rating, it is estimated to be over 50%. This likely will not be the last of lawsuits that Microsoft will see about their gaming system.

Only a 3-5% failure rating is satisfactory in this industry. One of these days the Xbox 360 has a failure valuation over 50%! This is all unacceptable.

The Console Argument

Sunday Feb 7, 2010

Sales

If you are basing it on sales alone then it has to be the Wii that gets the prize. However from my opinion (a person who has owned all of the Nintendo Consoles) this has been the worse console that Nintendo have ever made. Why on earth is this?

The major reason why is simply because they do not give a damn about all of the past fans that made them money before the Wii, the majority of new games are aimed at idiots and Nintendo fans rarely see the light of day. Mario Kart wii sold because they toned it down to the the family but in all honesty it was a pants game. As well as this they are copying Mario Galaxy by adding in a few variations to levels in Mario Galaxy 2.

So by that paragraph you can see that the Wii is out of in it my opinion.

Online and other

The PS3 is a good console there is no doubt about that and games such as uncharted 2 show just how far the console can go. Although the online play is all free, it is very poor and it features many games with people unable to speak your language. I still do not know why language filters are not in there? Is Blu-Ray the only decent thing going for the PS3.

The 360 has the best games, the best experience when playing and a really good online community. So my recommendation to you is not to get a Wii for the family as it will only be played once. Get a 360 or PS3.

To make sure these will not have to be replaced for some serious money, get game console insurance or gadget insurance. Of course you could also get some mobile phone insurance while you are at it.

Goozex Review: No Need For Gamestop

Monday Dec 21, 2009

Where do gamers go?

The choices you have as a gamer are:

  1. Buy (Online, Ebay, used, Gamestop..)
  2. Rent (Gamefly, blockbuster…)
  3. Trade (Goozex, Switchplanet..)

Renting in the past at your brick and mortar rental place can easily set you back more then $5-$7 every week like Blockbuster. Many places like Gamefly charge a monthly service fee. Renting isn’t all together bad but playing videogames isn’t like watching movies. There is a considerable larger amount of time invested in videogames then in movies. Most movies range from 1.5 hours to epics of 6 hours. Where most videogames you could get a good feel for a game in 3 hours but most sports games and long role playing games could be played for more then 70 hours.

This is where Goozex Game Trading steps in. Goozex allows the gamer to keep the game as long as you want but have the option to sell it too. There is only a $1 transaction fee if you request a game on their network. So basically you can trade in your older games and build up Goozex credit until you get enough for a newer title and just pay the $1 transaction fee. A shipping and handling is handled by sender and the buyer only pays . There is no monthly membership so you can stop at anytime or go at a slower pace. This is ideal in the sense that you could play the game until you are actually sick of it then send it in for credit. So you’re not rushed to get as many games played on the network because you can play at your own pace. Plus you OWN the game. From then on the game is yours, not a rental.

You only send games directly to the next member. There is no single central warehouse and the pricing of the credits of the system are in points (100pts = $5). The pricing of the game is determined by market demand, release date, initial cost of the game, and a couple other factors. Most xbox 360 titles will go for 800-1000 pts which translates to $40-$50. This isn’t bad for a used game. Some money can be saved buying used but there is still tax and travel time/cost. Goozex gives you free shipping to you with no tax charge. You also have an option to buy credits if you want but I wouldn’t recommend that unless you have no games to send in or nothing of yours is being requested. Price fluctuations occur and you can see the points swings. I’ve had a couple games I requested and I can see that price increase/decrease. It doesn’t happen that much but some games change +/- 200pts depending on market demand.

So why use Goozex instead of a used videogame store or an auction site with games like Ebay? You just need $1 to pay for the transaction fee. Most people don’t like to continually shell out more money for a game and then feel like the games they bought are depreciating at a very fast rate. Selling your game for cash anywhere will not give you that much. Brick and mortar stores resell your games for a huge mark up. Selling it online at an auction site will incur fees and you still have to pay for shipping. Goozex at least you get to trade in games you are done with and still get some value out of it as it will lead to other games you really want. There might be more difficulty in sending older sports titles as those don’t have much demand once their season is up like trying to sending in EA sports Madden 2005 will be a hard game to sell to someone on the network. Even if you were to put it older games on ebay you will have a hard to moving it and you will have to pay per insertion. On Goozex you will be able to list it and it will just stay there without having to pay insertion fees.

Each videogame is packed with information like reviews from Gamepro, some tips/trick, game description, and some even have instructions. The best feature is the ability to see how many copies of a game are listed on the network verses how many are being requested. This will let you know if you have a game people want or if you can possibly get a game on the network. Goozex determines who gets the game by matching up users. There is a waiting list that is generated and when you add a game you will see in what place you are waiting for that game. You get a good feel to when you will get a game. There is also a distinction between games you want now and games you have for holding. Both will show you your place in line so you’re not forced to get every game you want now. This is a good way to build up a wishlist and then have your core set of games your really want now. It is ideal to have a very large set of games you want now so you will have a very good chance of getting a game soon. I was requesting Crackdown for the Xbox 360 and I was 60th person in line. I got this game in 14 days. Just because you’re really deep in line doesn’t mean you won’t get the game soon. The system can deliver newer games in a short amount of time which is a huge bonus for gamers that want to play newer games but don’t want to buy them at the store. You have many options to what you want to trade in terms of instructions, case or just game. This is helpful as some gamers tend to lose instructions and/or cases. The value of the game doesn’t go down as the credits don’t reflect what is included. This is because the user requesting the game can have the option to request only full packaged games, games with instructions, or just the game itself. I have not had a problem with getting full packages as I’ve gotten over 49 games and I’ve sent out 54 in under 2 years of being there.

Why NOT to use

For this site to be a perfect 5 star site I would like to see:

1. More users (will there ever be enough?)
2. More retro gaming console support (nes, snes, saturn….)
3. Sure isn’t free but man it’s 4 quarters. I’m a member of another site that has no transaction fees yet still protects the members.
4. Video game trailers for each game
5. More user interaction like user reviews and tournaments…)

All the above are small tweaks to the system that is already very functional. The main reason someone would NOT want to use this system is time and money. If you have money why wouldn’t you just buy the game new down the street? Why wait? Saving money and the community are the main draws to the system. Save money and also connect with other gamers. If your very impatient then new release games will have to be purchased. Most new release games takes on average of 1-2 months. Why? You are placed on a Que. The order of the Que determines when you get the new game, but more importantly is how many are available? Most will eventually get bored of their new game and will send them out as “have” games. That could be more time than one might want to wait. Say you want a popular game that normally runs 40 hours to complete. You gotta factor in that a player like me would take over 1 month to beat a game like that. More popular games of course like Madden will hit the system quicker but that is also a bad thing. If you hold a game too long it will depreciate in value just like on the streets. Trading for early on might be for 1000 points but in a couple months with the market being saturated it could be 500 points in no time losing half of it’s value. Not entirely the fault of the system but some games just won’t move depending on your timing.

Current Goozex Simultaneous Transaction on the Network as of Mar 11, 2009 = 4793

Play your Xbox games using the 360 console

Sunday Nov 15, 2009

One of the most basic problems with the ongoing improvements in gaming console technology is the issue of backwards compatibility. In the past, games from its predecessor would not be compatible with the latest version of the game console. Xbox360 games have this feature. There are ways so that you can play your Xbox games using the 360 console.

One way of allowing you to play both versions of the said games is via updating your game console through the Live system. However, it is required in this method that a high-speed internet connection is present. The simple process of connecting your game unit to an available high-speed connection will allow you to update your system. After connecting, all that you really have to do is to wait for the process to finish. Afterwards, you can start playing your Xbox360 games! By doing this, you remain updated about the latest addition to the games that are being supported by the system. Of course you will be needing a Live account, which can either be a Silver or the Gold membership.

Another method that would to allow you to play Xbox games on your 360 console is by CD or DVD burning. This is for those who do not have a dsl internet connection. A simple dial-up connection would be sufficient for the download to complete. Using this method, one could simply go to Xbox.com and download a copy of the game and simply burn it on a disc.

This is especially useful for people whose consoles are not connected to a broadband internet connection. It also adds that you could get a supported copy of the game some place else, where an internet connection and a CD or DVD burner is present. This saves you from the task of having to bring the whole game console just for the supported games. The process is just as simple as creating an audio cd. This should not prove to be too difficult even for beginners.

The last of the methods which would allow gamers to play Xbox360 games in a 360 console would be to order it directly from Microsoft.com. However, this method would only be available by Early December for some people. But then again, it may seem as the most viable option. The disc includes all the necessary updates needed by the system to enable it to have backwards compatibility. It will be updating the program for the backwards compatibility, which would of course also update the operating system for your game console.

I should say that this backwards compatibility feature is really ingenious. First of all, it saves gamers all that money that would be wasted. Waste of money happens because they can’t use their old games or they buy new games. Although this feature only allows your Xbox360 and Xbox games to be played on the 360 console, it will definitely be a feature that would dictate future technological developments in the gaming industry.

Natal- is it going to be any good?

Monday Oct 26, 2009

When I was watching E3 back in May I was very impressed by what Microsoft had to offer. I was getting a bit bored until my favourite director Spielberg walked onto the stage hinting at a new Microsoft gadget.

MIlo was then showed off to the world by British company Lionhead. The game demo that the woman was playing enabled her to hold a conversation with a boy in the game. Although a lot of people have said that there is no point you really cannot say that it isnt cool.

Natal is actually able to map the body so you can use your whole body for a game. In the Burnout Paradise demo you can pretend to hold a steering wheel with your hands and step in and out to go and stop. Anything from golf to penalty shootouts can be more realstic thanks to full body control. This isnt just a fancy remote that moves things, this could be the future of games. Natal is also able to scan real life objects such as a golf club or a football so you can use your own personal things in the game.

If this is what they say it is, it is going to be huge. As well as this, at the recent Tokyo game show major developers such as Sega and Capcom have both announced their backing of the hardware and this is on top of all the other major developers which include EA, Activison and of course the expected Microsoft Game Studios.

For more information on this amazing new gadget it might be worth checking out a gadget blog.

Popular Xbox 360 Video Games

Thursday May 21, 2009

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has a user base of millions of gamers. That figure alone should be enough to convince any skeptic that the console is fun to play. However, the only way to truly enjoy the system is to purchase Xbox 360 games for entertainment. While the console’s Internet, movie, and music capabilities add to the overall value of the system as a home entertainment console, the true backbone of the system lies in its game library. There are several niche markets for Xbox 360 video games, but the more popular ones are bound to entertain you without a doubt.

Blockbuster Titles

The biggest Xbox 360 games have sold millions already, and they will most likely continue to sell millions in the months and years to come. Video games like Grand Theft Auto IV, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Halo 3 have all sold tremendously well on the Xbox 360 game system. However, there are still many big titles to come. Some of the biggest upcoming Xbox 360 games include Fallout 3, Halo Wars, and Civilization Revolution. Gamers will be able to choose from strategy, fighting, shooting, and roleplaying games, and the selection of Xbox 360 games is bound to grow.

Shooter fans are bound to love Halo 3 and Gears of War, while RPG gamers are not left out in the cold with Xbox 360 video games. The RPG enthusiast will find Fable 2 and Age of Conan to their liking. Other big titles like Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, and Bioshock will appeal to a large variety of players. To be able to play these games though, gamers will need an Xbox 360 game system. The current 20 Gb model is being sold at $300, while the new 60 Gb vesion will once again cost $350 (what the 20 Gb model cost until recently). With the system, gamers will be able to experience Xbox 360 video games in full HD 1080i (with support for 1080p). That’s the absolute best that gamers can ask for with the current generation of televisions, although computer monitors are capable of displaying slightly higher resolutions.

If you’re a gamer who has held off on buying the Xbox 360 pro systembecause of a lack of titles, all of the Xbox 360 video games available today (let alone what will be available a year from now) should be more than enough to convince even the hardest of critics to purchase the console. What they will get for $350 is the most grahically intensive video game console experience. With hundreds of titles to choose from, any gamer will be pleased with the extensive game selection.
