When I was watching E3 back in May I was very impressed by what Microsoft had to offer. I was getting a bit bored until my favourite director Spielberg walked onto the stage hinting at a new Microsoft gadget.

MIlo was then showed off to the world by British company Lionhead. The game demo that the woman was playing enabled her to hold a conversation with a boy in the game. Although a lot of people have said that there is no point you really cannot say that it isnt cool.

Natal is actually able to map the body so you can use your whole body for a game. In the Burnout Paradise demo you can pretend to hold a steering wheel with your hands and step in and out to go and stop. Anything from golf to penalty shootouts can be more realstic thanks to full body control. This isnt just a fancy remote that moves things, this could be the future of games. Natal is also able to scan real life objects such as a golf club or a football so you can use your own personal things in the game.

If this is what they say it is, it is going to be huge. As well as this, at the recent Tokyo game show major developers such as Sega and Capcom have both announced their backing of the hardware and this is on top of all the other major developers which include EA, Activison and of course the expected Microsoft Game Studios.

For sure you already know that the Xbox 360 is one of the best video game consoles to ever be released to the gaming world.  In terms of performance, the Xbox 360 glows above the competition. From the excellent gaming experience it offers, to the amazing graphics, this game system can impress even the most demanding gamers.
But, while the Xbox 360 for certain is brilliant, there are some common troubles associated with it.

If you can recognize the problems that are common problem of Xbox 360 players, you can realize what is going wrong, and also more importantly, determine how or whether the issue can be fixed. Some of the hardware problems that may happen with the Xbox 360 are also the well-known red light error, and DVD drive issue.Commonly, there are three standard types of LED problems that you may encounter with your Xbox 360.

When a green light is displayed, you can be certain Xbox is operating properly. If the red light is on, then you’ll know your Xbox 360 is encountering a problem.

If one read light is on it is an E74 error; the 2 red light error it suggests that the unit is too hot and if there are 3 red lights it indicates general hardware failure. The problems typically experienced with the Xbox 360 are shown as red lights on the power button when you are starting your console. If 1 red light is displayed, you’ll usually see an error message on the screen.  This one red light error is showing an E74 problem, which indicates that the unit’s scaler chip has burned out.

The scaler chip is the thing that is giving the Xbox 360 its super graphics.  If you are having this problem, you should phone the support center for your Xbox 360 to report it. It’s a good possibility that you can send your unit back for repair.

If you are dealing with 2 red lights displayed, then this indicates that your unit is too hot. You can resolve this issue by shutting off the Xbox console, and letting it cool off for a while. You should try to avoid overheating when you use it next time, because this could eventually lead to big problems or the all too well known RROD, also known as the 3 red lights error.   

If your console overheats, try cleaning it to take off the dust from the cover. Also, be certain to use console unit out in the free area with comfortable ventilation.

If you suffer the 3 red light on, this shows a serious problem with your Xbox 360.  This error shows you that your Xbox 360 has experienced an overall hardware problem, and you must send it to Microsoft for repair.

You might get four red lights on. This is probablly no big problem, since it might only mean that the wire isn’t properly connected. Check the connection and you will probably solve the issue.

If you get the problem of DVD drive error, or if the console is incapable to read the DVD that is as well caused by overheating.  If you get this issue, you will need to send the console to Microsoft to be fixed.

Ugh, my 360 kicked the virtual bucket yet again. I had played Rock Band for less then 24 hours…perfect timing for the box to break eh? Please enjoy my rant :p

Also, I know it looks hella messy with all those wires etc, but it’s usually a lot more neat and organized down there. It’s just a jungle of cables because I was ripping everything out in a frantic rush to fix my box, but to no avail. Oh well.

I also apologize to anyone who was in a desperate prayer that this vid would solve your red ring of death. Sorry guys, my bad. The only way to fix it is to indeed send it in for repairs, anything else is just a temp fix at best.

I opted to send it to Microsoft for repair. The entire process took about 2 weeks from the time I called the repair hotline, until the time I got my xbox back. On February 15th, tragedy struck as my beloved Xbox 360 fell victim to the Red Ring of Death (RROD).

The purpose of this video is not to bash Microsoft. I primarily made this to brush up on my video editing. Still, I love my 360, and I look forward to the arrival of my replacement console. In fact, I have been quite impressed by Microsoft’s devotion in providing replacement consoles in what must have been a substantial allocation of resources.

However, the fact of the matter is that these consoles were hastily pushed through the design/testing phase of development to meet marketing goals and Microsoft has yet to produce a stable and reliable motherboard.

I took exceptional care of my system. As you can see it’s sitting out in the open on a cool tile floor (not on carpet or in an enclosed space).

Microsoft has announced plans to release a new motherboard with a new 65nm GPU alongside the recently-added 65nm CPU. Let’s hope they finally fix the RROD issue once and for all.

On a side note, when I dropped my return box off at UPS, the clerk instantly recognized the packaging and said that they get 3-4 return drop-offs a day…
