Xbox 360 still working with Red Ring of Death + FIX

Wednesday Oct 29, 2008

UPDATE:
For everyone who says I have another 360: I don’t. Look at other people’s comments who got the exactly the same before their 360 died as well (my 360 died like 2 weeks after this weird error). Between my monitor and television is a Nintendo Wii, it’s not another 360 or whatever!

UPDATE2:
Honoured:
#81 - Most Discussed (All Time) - People & Blogs - Netherlands

ORIGINAL TEXT:
Got my Xbox 360 back just today and I ran it one time without a problem. Next time, I get the Ring of Death (again).

But I noticed my TV still got a signal: it still worked but the Rings of Death remained there. Seriously, wtf?

Guess I should be happy it is working but it’s still kinda weird… =’)

UPDATE: I had to clear the cache of my hard drive and memory unit according to Xbox Customer Support and now the Ring of Death is gone! Do the following:

Go to Memory in System. Than press: X - X - LB - RB - X - X
You will get a message asking for performing maintance. Press yes. Turn your Xbox 360 off, remove your hard drive and/or memory unit and turn on your 360. Check if the red light is gone. Than turn your 360 off, attach the hard drive and/or memory unit and this problem should be fixed.

NOTE: This fix only works when your Xbox 360 is working properly but still displaying the Ring of Death!

Xbox 360 Farewell - Red Ring of Death (RROD)

Wednesday Sep 17, 2008

On February 15th, tragedy struck as my beloved Xbox 360 fell victim to the Red Ring of Death (RROD).

The purpose of this video is not to bash Microsoft. I primarily made this to brush up on my video editing. Still, I love my 360, and I look forward to the arrival of my replacement console. In fact, I have been quite impressed by Microsoft’s devotion in providing replacement consoles in what must have been a substantial allocation of resources.

However, the fact of the matter is that these consoles were hastily pushed through the design/testing phase of development to meet marketing goals and Microsoft has yet to produce a stable and reliable motherboard.

I took exceptional care of my system. As you can see it’s sitting out in the open on a cool tile floor (not on carpet or in an enclosed space).

Microsoft has announced plans to release a new motherboard with a new 65nm GPU alongside the recently-added 65nm CPU. Let’s hope they finally fix the RROD issue once and for all.

On a side note, when I dropped my return box off at UPS, the clerk instantly recognized the packaging and said that they get 3-4 return drop-offs a day…
