XBox 360 games such as Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV have become exceedingly popular and have a very large almost fanatical following. There are many exciting XBox 360 game titles around with more in the creation pipeline. With games such as these being developed it is hardly surprising that Microsoft has sold in excess of 19 million XBox 360 consoles, despite their reputation for developing the XBox Ring Of Death.
These XBox games offer tremendously impressive graphics and exciting story lines. Perhap some think these games offer some escapism from our stressful and troubled world, why not, that’s what I use them for. But sometimes, because the games are all engulfing and addictive, many of us run our XBox consoles for excessively extended time periods, often into the early hours of the morning, and I’ll wager I’m not the only one, just one of many.
Because of these addictions and being totaly wrapped up in the game play, we will not be aware of just how long we have been running our XBox. As we are completely immersed we will unlikely pay any attention to the fact that our console maybe overheating due to the lack of ventilation, the XBox Ring Of Death lights will probably go un-noticed also.
The Red Ring Of Death has been the subject of many online discussions, especially tips for the Ring Of Death Fix. But I discovered in my research for information to effect my own XBox repair, that many of the online tips from professed experts could actually be dangerous and harm your XBox beyond repair.
So if well ventilating your console does not fully protect you from the XBox Ring Of Death developing and you do not wish to take Microsoft up on their expensive offer of repair, as I didn’t, then ensure you research for professional repair guides. Look for XBox Ring Of Death Repair Guides Review sites that have tried and tested the top repair guides to ensure 100% guaranteed effectiveness and ease of use.

If you have been an Xbox owner for any length of time then I am sure that by now you will be aware of the “XBox Red Ring Of Death” error. This is the light ring that is surrounding the main XBox console power light. This ring of light is made up of four sections and each section of the ring indicates, when lit red, an error is taking place.
Although the 3 red lights are the most feared and most common, each red light is has meaning. Lets examine each light section and its meaning:
1 Red Ring Light:
This light illuminating indicates that your XBox is starting to suffer from a general hardware failure.
2 Red Ring Lights:
Having two red light rings illuminate is informing you that your XBox is starting to overheat. Should you see these two sections then my advice is to take immediate action and turn it off to cool down and avoid further damage.
3 Red Ring Lights:
The feared “XBox Ring Of Death“. Having these three red light rings show up on your console indicate that your CPU has come loose, this is caused from your console being severely overheated.
4 Red Ring Lights:
This is not a major problem and is relatively easy to fix. The four red light rings indicates that your XBox AV cable has come loose.
The three red light sections of the “XBox Ring Of Death” lighting up is considered to be the most problematical of all the errors. The Microsoft Corporation have to date expended millions of dollars to repair their customers’ consoles after they fell victim to the Red Ring Of Death. Microsoft absorbs the costs of these repairs for machines that are still under warranty. Unfortunately there are many thousands of customers who develop this problem after their consoles warranty expiration.
The only option for these unfortunate people is to send their XBox to Microsoft and incur costs of $200 or more, and then possibly wait for more than two months for its return.
But now there is another option available other than incurring heavy costs and being without your XBox console for months.
A number of XBox and electronic fanatics developed simple techniques for repairing their own consoles from the XBox Ring Of Death. These techniques that they developed proved to be exceedingly successful, and they have now produced guides that will enable every XBox owner to easily repair their own for a fraction of the cost.
These guides show step-by-step procedures for a red light fix. A few of the guides are accompanied by clear video demonstrations to follow, very useful for novices.
My recommendation if you are looking for an XBox repair guide, as there are a number of inferior guides around, is that you visit a site that has reviewed and tested the top repair guides.

After over 3 years of faithfull service, my Xbox 360 kicked the bucket. I called into Microsoft and was happy to be informed that I won’t have to buy a new console. I’m wondering how long, and what the exchange process is like?
Should take, in all, 2-4 weeks. They send you a box, you put JUST your console in the box. You ship it out. They send you either a fixed 360, or a refurbished one, and one free month of Xbox Live.

UPDATE:
For everyone who says I have another 360: I don’t. Look at other people’s comments who got the exactly the same before their 360 died as well (my 360 died like 2 weeks after this weird error). Between my monitor and television is a Nintendo Wii, it’s not another 360 or whatever!
UPDATE2:
Honoured:
#81 - Most Discussed (All Time) - People & Blogs - Netherlands
ORIGINAL TEXT:
Got my Xbox 360 back just today and I ran it one time without a problem. Next time, I get the Ring of Death (again).
But I noticed my TV still got a signal: it still worked but the Rings of Death remained there. Seriously, wtf?
Guess I should be happy it is working but it’s still kinda weird… =’)
UPDATE: I had to clear the cache of my hard drive and memory unit according to Xbox Customer Support and now the Ring of Death is gone! Do the following:
Go to Memory in System. Than press: X - X - LB - RB - X - X
You will get a message asking for performing maintance. Press yes. Turn your Xbox 360 off, remove your hard drive and/or memory unit and turn on your 360. Check if the red light is gone. Than turn your 360 off, attach the hard drive and/or memory unit and this problem should be fixed.
NOTE: This fix only works when your Xbox 360 is working properly but still displaying the Ring of Death!

MY FOURTH XBOX 360 DIES, FOR THE LAST TIME.
Dear microsoftfags, the intercooler does not mess up the 360. People have been adding fans, mod chips and lights for over a year to the 360.
Stop mindlessly believing what they tell you.
The intercooler uses 3x.1 amp fans. That’s 3.6
watts. The PSU outputs 200 watts and the 360 uses
160 watts. So unless the fans are causing immense
DC ripple, or using 13 watts each, please STFU
and stop being a parrot. TY.
I got a ring of death on the first 360 I bought within 15 days.(It was a launch system)
The next one wouldn’t play dvd movies, it would freeze and die at the DVD layer change. I returned it and the replacement unit was the same. So that was two in one shot. This is the one I bought at another store after that incident, and after maybe a year here it is gone bad.
I originally had it vertical, and got lots of disc read errors on a new game. I tried it horizontal, and it still gave disc read errors. Lastly I tried the intercooler and it stopped the disc read errors for about a month.

Ugh, my 360 kicked the virtual bucket yet again. I had played Rock Band for less then 24 hours…perfect timing for the box to break eh? Please enjoy my rant :p
Also, I know it looks hella messy with all those wires etc, but it’s usually a lot more neat and organized down there. It’s just a jungle of cables because I was ripping everything out in a frantic rush to fix my box, but to no avail. Oh well.
I also apologize to anyone who was in a desperate prayer that this vid would solve your red ring of death. Sorry guys, my bad. The only way to fix it is to indeed send it in for repairs, anything else is just a temp fix at best.
Oh, and if you like this vid, please let all your friends know about it. If the vid get’s a lot of views then it will motivate me to film something even better. Plus, getting views makes me happy =P

This is a follow up video to my last post about my experience with the Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death. My first console died on me just two weeks after I bought it. I opted to send it to Microsoft for repair. The entire process took about 2 weeks from the time I called the repair hotline, until the time I got my xbox back. This video shows what happened when I got my console back.
